Accepting card payments by swiping, tapping, or inserting the card through a terminal is easy. Here’s how!
Prerequisites:
- Your Usio Payment Status is ACTIVE. This means you activated payment processing, completed the Usio Enrollment process AND we turned on Usio Payments for your business.
- You activated the Terminal feature for your business by turning on the “Enable a POS Terminal - $5/month” toggle on the Payment Processing page AND you ordered a terminal.
- You successfully set up your POS Terminal by following any instructions that came with it.
Steps:
1 - Search for your client on your Customers list then click the "purchase" link.
2 - On the Make Purchase screen, either choose the item (package, retail product or miscellaneous charge) you want to purchase for your customer if you’re simply making a purchase. Or, choose to purchase the drop-in price or any package when booking.
3 - Click PURCHASE beside it.
4 - If you have a promo, enter the promo code on the Promotion Code field then click APPLY. Otherwise, just choose "Terminal" on the Payment Source pulldown.
Note: Terminal will only appear as an option on the Payment Source pulldown during purchase or booking when you meet all of the requirements above.
5 - A pop up will appear similar to the one below.
6 - Swipe, tap, or insert the card on the terminal. Make sure it’s turned on.
7 - The terminal will process your payment. Once done, it will be approved.
8 - On the Make purchase screen you’ll be directed to the confirmation page. Click CLOSE.

Q: Will my customer's card be saved automatically after processing a Terminal transaction?
A: Unfortunately, your client's card will not be saved. To save your client's card, go to his profile on your Customers list, scroll down to "Personal Wallet" and add his card.
Q: I followed the setup instructions of the terminal. When I try purchasing, "Terminal" is not showing during purchase. What should I do?
A: Make sure that you turn on the “Enable a POS Terminal - $5/month” toggle on the Payment Processing page and click SAVE. Very Important!
Also, click the Payment Source pulldown during purchase and choose "Terminal".

Q: How can I stop my "Terminal" subscription?
A: To do this, go to the Payment Processing page and scroll down. Turn off the Terminal toggle, click the checkbox, hit CONFIRM and SAVE.
Q: How much will I be charged for my Terminal subscription and Terminal processing fee?
A: Adding this feature will cost $5 per month and incur transaction fees of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
Q: When will I be charged for the Terminal subscription?
A: Your subscription will start 30 days after you order your terminal.
